Confirming the Fact That I Am Not Quite Dead Yet
Hello to everyone! I live! Though for how much longer, I’m not sure. Last week was the end of January and at work, the end of the month means I get to work the equivalent of 6 and a half days all crammed into 4 very. very. long. days. And we mustn’t forget about Friday, too. Basically, I’m still tired from last week and the weekend is now gone. I’m just glad that this week is back to normal 8 hour days.
It’s getting late, but I thought you guys would like to get a quick update on life in the Davenport household. Thing 1: No, Butterfly Monkey has not been found yet. Andrew and I took the kids to Toys ‘R Us to see about buying another one, but unfortunately, they were all sold out. They had a George that didn’t have the butterfly, though, and that seems to be just fine by Aurora. We were unsure how she’d react to a slightly different George. Both Ethan and Gideon got Georges for Christmas, too, but she never seemed very interested in their Georges. Maybe it was because they’re wearing clothes and she prefers George naked, just as nature intended him to be. Anyway, we showed her the butterfly-less version of George at the toy store to see how she’d react and she immediately grabbed him and held him tight, showering him with kisses and chattering at him as though she were filling him in on everything he’d missed since he went AWOL. Grandma even sewed a new butterfly to put on his arm so that New George would be just like Old George. We’re still keeping our eyes open for Butterfly Monkey, though. I can’t imagine where he possibly went to. I know there are several toys trapped inside the couch (or as it’s better known, Where Toys Go To Die). I think we’re finally going to cut into the lining on the bottom of the couch just to see what all is in there.
Thing 2: The boys started the semester of preschool recently and boy, are they excited about it! One rule at their preschool is that if the kids show up obviously sick, they are sent home immediately. Ethan had a little cough that started Friday night and he spent the whole weekend asking if what he was eating was healthy. If I said it was, he cheered and said he was feeling better already. If I said it wasn’t, he stopped eating it and asked for something that would make him better.
For the first day of preschool, I took the afternoon off so that I could watch them play with the kids and see their teachers and such. I guessed the start time wrong and ended up home an hour earlier than I need to be. I decided to take a little nap. I layed down on the couch and after several times of Ethan waking me up to see if it was time yet (all within the first ten minutes) I told him he had to let me sleep until the clock said 1-1-5. He let me sleep for a little while, but soon I started getting regular updates on the current time. "Mommy, the clock says 1-2-4-6." "Mommy, the clock says 1-2-5-3." "Mommy, the clock says 1-0-3." You get the picture. It was so cute that I couldn’t even bring myself to be annoyed!
Well, there was more I wanted to say, but I have to be awake in just 6 hours and those 6 hours are desperately needed. I’ll make sure I get all caught up on my blog reading and commenting tomorrow. Night, all!
