Happy Birthday Aurora and Gideon!
Saturday was Aurora and Gideon’s birthday. I can’t believe my baby girl is two years old now and that my tiny little peanut of a boy is FOUR. He has been very sure to make sure we understand that fact. He is FOUR YEARS OLD! And don’t you forget it! We had a fun day chock full of birthday excitement. Who knew it was so difficult to have a double birthday party and still make it feel like each child is having their own celebration!
I spent the morning baking up fresh zuchini bread for a special birthday breakfast. Warm, thick slices of zuchini bread smothered in melting butter? DEEE-licious! Once we finally got everyone showered, dressed, and ready to go, we headed off to the mall for some birthday fun.
The kids had a blast playing on the Reactrix game there, though Gideon seemed more intent on figuring out the rules of the game and how the machine worked than actually playing with it!

We wandered around for a few hours, browsing in all the fun stores before hitting the Build-A-Bear Workshop! At least an hour was spent selecting which animal we were going to stuff and then what clothes they would wear. We had some great new friends come home with us!

When we got home, we decorated the house, ate some spaghetti, and watched a movie. Then we donned our party hats…

Some with a bit more creativity than others!

Even our new friends joined in!

Then came the cake!

Two cakes, actually! Why, yes, I did spend a large portion of my day baking. Why do you ask?

And presents!

Lots of presents!

After we opened all of the presents, we stayed up way too late playing with all of our new toys aidst the wreckage left from unwrapping.

A mess of wrapping paper and packaging won’t stop our fun!

After all was said and done, the day was great! We were exhausted at the end of it and by the time we got everyone bathed (we had to wash the chocolate icing out of our hair for church the next morning), jammies on, and teeth brushed, there were tears, tantrums, and finally, fast asleep little ones. Which quickly led to fast asleep parents, too! I just can’t believe how big they’ve gotten since last year!
*sniff* My babies are getting so big so very, very quickly!
Happy Birthday, Aurora and Gideon! Mommy and Daddy love you more than we could every possibly say and we love you even more each and every day!

Happy birthday to your kiddos.
Wow, they did get so big so fast.
But I’m so glad they had a good birthday. Yay!

What a great birthday story. I’ve always thought the Build a Bear place was neat, but I’m just too cheap to try it.
