Fold My Laundry Please

Me Waaantssss….

Am I the only one who gets all excited about things that clean the house?  Like this for instance…

Ah yes, the Roomba!  A dream for those living in a house where the floor is perpetually covered with crumbs!  This nifty little gadget zooms around all on its own vacuuming up the room for you.  The best part?  You don’t even have to be home for it to do its thang!

And what Roomba would be complete without his best friend…

…the Scooba!  You don’t want Roomba to get lonely, do you?  I didn’t think so.  Not only does Scooba vacuum your hard surface floors, it washes your floors for you, too!  SQUEEEE!  The best part?  You don’t even have to be home for it to do its thang!

My bad habit (because I have only one, you know) is that I have a tendency to throw a load of laundry in the machine, head out for the day, and then totally forget that there are clothes in the machine until I go to throw in the next load, usually a day or two later.  This means I have to rerun the entire load and begin the process of trying to keep up with the massive amount of dirty clothes my tribe creates.  I’ll finally get all caught up, throw in the last load, and guess what?  I forget all about it.  It never fails.  Then I saw this little beauty…

Allow me to make the proper introductions.  Friends Friend, this is the LG WM3431HW 24" Washer/Dryer Combo.  This wonderful product is the solution to all of my problems.  You throw in a load of laundry, turn it on, and it first washes, then dries the clothes for you.  In the same machine!  I KNOW!  The only problem is that it can take up to 6 hours for everything to finish up, so really, I would need at least two to keep up with the amount of laundry my family makes (three if it’s bed changing day).  No more moldy smelling clothes when I get tired of washing the same load three or more times in a row!  As you can see, I clearly have a problem.  But as I said before, just one.  But!  The best part?  You don’t even have to be home for it to do its thang!  Are you sensing a theme here?

Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have $3500 just sitting around.  So feel free to pick one or two of these things up and send them my way!  And while you’re at it, grab one of these for Andrew, too.

The Robomower from Friendly Robotics, because your yard will be jealous!

President Gordon B. Hinckley 1910-2008

Filed under: What I Do When I'm Not Folding Laundry - Melissa @ 8:59 pm

At 7 pm Mountain Time this evening, the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our living prophet on the earth, passed away.  He was 97 and sharp as a tack.  He became the president of our church in 1995, two years after I was baptized, so he was really the only prophet I was personally aware of.  I was always very excited to hear his talks.  He was smart, kind, and witty and his talks reflected all of those characteristics.  I’m really going to miss him.

Green Thumb

I’ll bet you guys thought I was exaggerating about my celery, didn’t you?  Now you can clearly see that I wasn’t!  Not only is it growing, it’s thriving!  Apparently, my countertop is the ideal environment for the proliferation of foods consisting of negative calories.  Is it strange that I now feel some sort of guilt-fueled* responsibility to keep the darn thing alive?  As you can see in the picture, I now place my celery in the window for occassional doses of sunlight.  Also?  I sprinkle it with water.  But only a very little bit.  And in case you’re wondering, as I’m sure you are, there is nary a sign of roots.

*sigh*

I have to go.  My celery has had enough sunlight for today.  And I still have to sing it to sleep.

*The guilt comes into play whenever I think about throwing it away.  I mean, you can’t just throw away living things…can you?

After All This Time…

…he can still make me blush!

Friday night, Andrew and I went to the gym.  I headed down to the weight room with him to spot him during his inclined presses.  In between two of the sets, he stood up and looked at me and said, "You’ve got eyes."

"Yeeees, I do," I replied, a little confused.

"Hello, eyes!"  At which point he flashed me one of his world class smiles and continued to gaze into my eyes.  Suddenly, I could feel my face begin to burn with the heat of flirtacious giddiness and I spent the rest of my workout randomly bursting into girlish giggles!

Uncomfortably Energetic

Okay, I don’t normally do two video posts in a row, but I just saw this one on Funny or Die and I can. not. stop. laughing!  I’ve watched it at least five times now and it only gets funnier each time!  I do have to put a warning out there.  It does have the F-bomb in it once about halfway through.  But I’m tellin’ ya…

…kicking Mother Nature in the face with your "energy legs"!  Bwahahahaha!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

What are my plans for this extra day off, you ask?  Well, I thought I’d head off to the gym with my husband for a relaxing workout.

Then maybe the family and I will have dinner out at a nice restaurant.

Or maybe we’ll just eat at home.

What did you guys do with your weekend?

And You Thought the World Revolved Around the Sun!

Filed under: KidSpeak - Melissa @ 5:49 pm

We were all sitting at the dinner table the other night, eating a yummy meal and talking with Ethan about what he’s doing in school.  The discussion went on for most of the meal until a certain nameless little girl stood up in her chair, waved her arms wildly in the air, and screamed, "MEEEEEEEEEEE!" at the top of her lungs!  Needless to say, discussion stopped and all eyes turned towards Aurora (oops, she was supposed to be nameless, wasn’t she?) whereupon she flashed a big smile and stood there twisting back and forth.  Apparently, there is a time limit for activities not involving my daughter!  I feel sorry for the man who decides he wants to marry her someday.  She seems to be a tad bit high maintenance!
