Me Waaantssss….

Am I the only one who gets all excited about things that clean the house?  Like this for instance…

Ah yes, the Roomba!  A dream for those living in a house where the floor is perpetually covered with crumbs!  This nifty little gadget zooms around all on its own vacuuming up the room for you.  The best part?  You don’t even have to be home for it to do its thang!

And what Roomba would be complete without his best friend…

…the Scooba!  You don’t want Roomba to get lonely, do you?  I didn’t think so.  Not only does Scooba vacuum your hard surface floors, it washes your floors for you, too!  SQUEEEE!  The best part?  You don’t even have to be home for it to do its thang!

My bad habit (because I have only one, you know) is that I have a tendency to throw a load of laundry in the machine, head out for the day, and then totally forget that there are clothes in the machine until I go to throw in the next load, usually a day or two later.  This means I have to rerun the entire load and begin the process of trying to keep up with the massive amount of dirty clothes my tribe creates.  I’ll finally get all caught up, throw in the last load, and guess what?  I forget all about it.  It never fails.  Then I saw this little beauty…

Allow me to make the proper introductions.  Friends Friend, this is the LG WM3431HW 24" Washer/Dryer Combo.  This wonderful product is the solution to all of my problems.  You throw in a load of laundry, turn it on, and it first washes, then dries the clothes for you.  In the same machine!  I KNOW!  The only problem is that it can take up to 6 hours for everything to finish up, so really, I would need at least two to keep up with the amount of laundry my family makes (three if it’s bed changing day).  No more moldy smelling clothes when I get tired of washing the same load three or more times in a row!  As you can see, I clearly have a problem.  But as I said before, just one.  But!  The best part?  You don’t even have to be home for it to do its thang!  Are you sensing a theme here?

Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have $3500 just sitting around.  So feel free to pick one or two of these things up and send them my way!  And while you’re at it, grab one of these for Andrew, too.

The Robomower from Friendly Robotics, because your yard will be jealous!

Getting a Head Start On Next Year

Filed under: Holidays, What I'm Surfing - Melissa @ 12:43 am

I noticed that so many of us here on the internets had a difficult time really feeling the Christmas spirit this year.  Most likely it had something to do with the fact that almost every single friend of mine, myself included, ended up spending the holidays sick as dogs!  Nothing fills you with holiday cheer like that week or two where the germs are settling in before the sickness rears up and slaps you silly!

Anyway…I’ve recently discovered a way to keep up the warmth you feel during the Season of Giving all year long.  And no, I’m not referring to the recent bout of fevers.  Elfin magic led me to find Santa’s blog.  Yes indeedy!  A daily posting from The Man In Red himself!  We’ve only been reading it for a week or so, but our family is totally hooked!  It has quickly become a nightly read for our household.

So if you’re worried about having a cheerless repeat of this past holiday next December, hop on over and give Santa a read.  And remember…warm, fuzzy, holiday feelings keep germs at bay!  So read Santa’s blog and never get sick again!

Bread Machine Woes

Andrew and I bought a bread machine about a month ago and have been having great fun making all sorts of delicious (and some not so delicious) loaves.  The only problem I have with bread machine bread is that it never seems fluffy enough to me.  It always turns out kind of dense.  I decided to take a peek at Youtube to see if I could find any helpful videos.  That’s when I found this terribly helpful nutritional advice:

I would have laughed myself silly if I hadn’t been sick!  Instead I kind of coughed and wheezed myself silly…if that’s even possible.

So if any of you out there have any advice that’s actually helpful, I’d really appreciate it.  None of the recipes I have call for any baking powder.  Should I try throwing some in and if so, how much?  Please help!

Anyone Else Disturbed By This?

I was browsing around the Fisher Price website, hoping to find a replacement part for our broken baby swing and came across this disturbing picture.  Now why on earth would they feel the need to paste a white baby’s head on a black baby’s body?  And a poorly done job at that!  Think I’m kidding?  Click on the picture and see!  It’s just a tiny little picture, but if you click on it, it gets big enough to see.  Perhaps I’ll send a letter to their customer service department…

I Laughed For Hours!

Filed under: What I'm Surfing - Melissa @ 2:32 am

Okay, we’ve all heard about accidents involving the Nintendo Wii where the remote’s safety strap breaks and the remote crashes into the television.  I found a site dedicated to pictures and stories about Wii accidents.  It’s called Wii Have a Problem.com and it’s full of some of the most hilarious stories about the Wii sent in from all over the world.  Some of my favorites…

Man Breaks TV, Recreates Event on Safer Medium

Attack on Girlfriend Proves Fatal to Boyfriend’s Wii Privileges

There you have it, more Wii incidents than you ever cared to read about.  A word of advice, use the links on the right hand side of the page if you want to avoid looking at a ton of pictures of broken safety straps on the Wii-motes.  Have fun!
